There are various kinds of combinations of planets (called Yogas) available in the horoscopes having different results. Some combinations are considered to be very good, whereas some others are considered to be very bad. Good combinations give beneficial results whereas others produce negative results. Some of the important combinations are given here.
When all the planets are in between Rahu and Ketu in a horoscope it is referred to as Kalsarpa Yoga. For each Ascending sign, Rahu/Ketu could be in 12 positions; hence, there are 12 Kalsarpa Yogas for each Ascending Sign. This totals 12 Ascending Signs x 12 Yogas = 144 Yogas if we consider all the Ascendants.
Kalsarpa Yoga is possible in two ways:
1. When all the planets are from Rahu to Ketu, and
2. When all the planets are from Ketu to Rahu.
In view of some of the learned astrologers, the latter ones are not that bad. In our view, when all the planets are hemmed in between two malefics, i.e. Rahu and Ketu, they become malefic by Papkartari Yoga. Also, one side of the horoscope contains planets and the other side is empty. This is a Kalsarpa Yoga. By the same logic, if all the planets are hemmed in between two malefics, i. e. Ketu and Rahu, this is also a Kalsarpa Yoga). Thus, in the above list, 144 can be added, making a total of 288 Kalsarpa Yogas. Then there are the Kalsarpa Yogas known as Part Kalsarpa Yoga, i.e. one planet is outside the scope of Rahu/Ketu. Later Jyotishacharyas have come out with so many Kalsarpa Yogas that all of them cannot be mentioned here. However, most important Kalsarp Yogas are 12, made in 12 houses and these are being described here (...)
